How To Draw Hot Chocolate - Kawaii - Easy Step By Step Guide

Today, let’s finish up our kawaii/cute food tutorials with this one; how to draw hot chocolate, in our kawaii art style.

We’ve already made a tutorial for how to draw a kawaii drink, but some of you just LOVE marshmallows and asked us to make this hot chocolate video and tutorial : )

It’s super easy to draw, you can open the eyes, if you’d like, add a few sprinkles or anything else you might like. Oh, and they do have those pink and green marshmallows now, so maybe you’d want to color that too? It’s all up to you, so grab your pen and let’s get started!

Art Supplies

Here’s a list of coloring supplies we recommend to use, however, feel free to use whatever you can find around the house!

Pencil, Marker, Sharpie, Pen (Anything you can draw with!)
Paper (We love marker paper but use anything you can find).

Colored Markers (if you want to color the drawing).
Here are what we think are the best colored pencils, best gel pens and best markers for coloring.
Your imagination (feel free to change colors or add things to the drawing!).

If you are already a fan of a particular marker/coloring brand you may want to check out a few of our other guides such for popular brands such as Ohuhu markers, Artzea and Prismacolor markers.

Otherwise, just pick whatever coloring tools you have around the house (crayons, markers, pencil crayons etc.) and just have some fun!

A Few Tips Before You Start Drawing

Nothing too complicated but keep the top of the cup wide and not too narrow so that you can fit the marshmallow inside.
Feel free to change colors around.

Let’s Draw A Hot Chocolate Kawaii Style – Step By Step

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step1 — **Step 1:** Let’s start making the outline of our cup’s opening. Draw a wide oval, like the image above. Note that this is a little bit slanted – with the right side a bit high. There should be a space for our marshmallow next.

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step2 — **Step 2:** Create the shape of the marshmallow in the space you made. The left vertical side is a bit shorter than the right side. Note the slightly round edges for a softer look.

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step3 — **Step 3:** Complete the base of the cup. Make the vertical lines on each side and connect them with a slight curve at the bottom (still with round edges).

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step4 — **Step 4:** Add the arms of the marshmallows by drawing two curves on each side, touching the cup’s opening.

Draw a slightly curved upward line connecting the bottom of the marshmallow to complete its shape.

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step5 — **Step 5:** Draw an inner lining on the cup, representing the drink. Starting from the left side, draw a line below the cup’s opening until you reach the other edge (skip the marshmallow part).

Draw random wavy lines at the bottom part of the marshmallow, as shown.

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step6 — **Step 6:** Make two inverted C-shapes on the right side of the cup for the handle.

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step7 — **Step 7:** Time to add the kawaii faces on our drawing! On the upper part of the marshmallow, make two downward curves for the eyes. Don’t forget to add a small open-mouth smile just near the eyes – note that horizontal part is on the same level as the tip of the eyes.

For the cup’s eyes, make two upward curves on each side and one little curve in the middle for its mouth.

Make little wavy lines and dots on the left and right part of the marshmallows, touching the drink. Draw round shapes and dots on the liquid portion, too. Add another curve inside the handle.

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step10 — **Step 10:** Color your drawing! It’s really up to you what will be the color of your cup and drink! Choose whatever makes you happy.

howtodrawkawaiimarshmallowdrink-step11 — **Step 11:** Adding darker shades on the outline of your marshmallow drink cup makes it more kawaii! Awesome job!
