A Few Tips Before You Start Drawing
The hands and arms can be tricky. Take it slow and start with the thumb to help space and size the hand.
Let’s Draw Deku – Step By Step
Step 1: Draw the outline of Deku’s face first. Follow the arrow strokes above as guide since we have a combination of curved strokes here.
Step 2: Draw a short vertical line on each side of his chin and connect the tips with V-stroke.
Step 3: Add details on his neck – draw a vertical line in the middle and add two dots on each side. Draw another V-line on top of your previous stroke and draw small vertical lines between them.
Step 4: Next is to draw his messy wavy hair! Let’s do the left part first. Use the arrows as your guide. Make sure his hair reaches the neck part.
Step 5: Complete the hair outline by doing the right part up to his neck portion as well.
Step 6: Now time to work on his bangs. From the mid section of his head, draw a slanted line to the bottom left part. End it with like two wavy strokes towards his ear.
Step 7: Continue making alternating wavy strokes to finish his bangs.
Step 8: Time for the contour of his eyes. Make a round curve for the top portion of each eye. Make this appear thick. Next, draw a thin line just below each eye.
Step 9: Draw the inner part of his eyes. Make an oval shape on the corner of each eye. Shade it black. Draw another outline outside this oval shape, too.
Step 10: Next to draw is his eyebrows and his thin, smiling lips. Don’t forget to add four dots (formed like a diamond) under his eyes for his freckles.
Step 11: From the edge of his neck collar, draw a downward stroke to form his shoulder and arm. Make another stroke to define his arm.
Step 12: End the sleeve with two horizontal strokes that are slightly wider than the arm width. Close each ends with vertical lines that are not really straight.
Step 13: Draw his hand next – closed fist. Follow the guide arrows above to make it. Make sure to draw a little stroke to define the thumb part, too.
Step 14: Add details on his sleeves clothing by drawing another stroke inside his shoulder section. Draw a small rectangular patch touching his sleeve (which you can shade black at this point already). Draw a half-circle on his sleeve as well. Lastly, add a little downward stroke on his shoulder section towards his armpit.
Step 15: Draw the right portion of his shoulder and arms next. Make a downward stroke for his shoulders (same length as the other arm) then make a longer vertical line from his armpit down (end with a left stroke).
Step 16: For the shorter line, draw the edges with a folded sleeve. See sample above. Note that this is aligned with the other sleeve.
Step 17: Draw another closed fist next. Make a short stroke in the middle for details.
Step 18: Draw details on his arm. Add a little downward stroke on his shoulder section towards the armpit. Draw a small rectangular patch touching his sleeve (shade it black, too!). Draw a semi-circle on his sleeve, too.
Step 19: Start drawing his belt. On the middle part, draw a small square with curved corners. Align this with V-tip of his neck collar. On each side, leave a space then draw a bigger square (note that the right square is touching the edge of his shirt).
Step 20: Connect the three shapes with vertical lines as his belt.
Step 21: Add details on his belt. Draw vertical lines on each side of his middle buckle. For the other two squares, draw inner lines to make them look like a cube.
Step 22: Draw a vertical line from the V edge of his neck down to his belt buckle. Extend another short line after.
Step 23: Add details on the sides of his top outfit. Please refer to the image above as to the shape to do.
Step 24: Start drawing the bottom part of his suit. Add those little strokes to form his legs.
Step 25: Draw a vertical line on each side of his legs. Add one slanted line in the middle of his legs.
Step 26: Draw the knee caps of his pants. They look like rectangular shapes but the edges and corners are rounded/curved.
Step 27: Draw a smaller rectangle on each knee. With a little space from the knee caps, draw an inverted V-shape (as shown above).
Step 28: Next is to draw the top portion of his boots. On both sides of the inverted V-shapes you made, draw the shape outline as seen above.
Step 29: Close the front part of each boot by making a U-curve.
Step 30: Draw the little details to complete his shoe section. Draw two tiny vertical lines on the space between his shoes and knees (for his legs). On both boots, draw another inner curved line on the front part. Draw a horizontal line below the inverted V-shape as well.
Step 31: Last touch – add an oval blush on his cheeks for that kawaii look!
Step 32: Finally… coloring time! There’s a lot of details for Deku but you did it!
His primary outfit color is green with a touch of red for his belt and boots. The neck part is gray while his gloves has an off-white shade.
For his hair, go with dark green for the top spikes and for some highlights. Use black for the inner and lower parts.
Color his face and blush, and add some shades around. You’re done! Hooooray!
