How To Draw Super Mario

So today, you’re about to embark on an epic quest! Let’s learn how to draw Super Mario from Super Mario Brothers.

A Few Tips Before You Start Drawing

  • The hands can be tricky. Try to keep the fingers even.
  • Make sure his moustache is not too small. Nice round curves on the bottom.

Let’s Draw Super Mario – Step By Step

Step 1: Let’s start by drawing a round oval shape for Super Mario’s nose.

Step 2: Draw his moustache next. Just make a short extension on the left side compared on the right where it’s much longer. Make curly strokes at the bottom part. You may shade it black already at this point.

Step 3: Now draw the contour of his face by following the arrows above. Just note to make a dent for his chin. The left outline of his face touches his mustache as well.

Step 4: Draw his ears next. Make a small curve on the left side. For the right ear, make a larger round curve with a little stroke inside.

Step 5: Next to do are his eyes! Just above his nose (on the left part), draw a downward curve for the left eye then an almost perfect oval shape for the right eye.

Draw the iris (black oval portion) on both eyes touching towards the right side of the oval. You may shade them black at this point.

Step 6: Draw his thick eyebrows. Make a downward curve above each eye. You may also shade them black already.

Step 7: Add his happy mouth just below his moustache. Draw a wide U-shape for it.

Step 8: Now draw the outline of his cap’s visor. Start from the tip of his face, near the left ear, and make a wavy line crossing his eyebrows. Stop just a bit above the right ear (leave a space).

Next is to draw a wide curve from the same tip where you started then finish off on his right eyebrow.

Step 9: From the tip of the visor, draw another stroke to connect it to his right ear.

Step 10: Now to complete his cap, make a bigger curve on top (see the guide arrows) followed by a dent for a smaller curve.

Step 11: Draw a circle in the middle, touching the visor’s edge.

Step 12: Next to draw is his sideburn. Use the guide above to draw the shape just beside his right ear.

Step 13: Add small, curly strokes below the ear for his hair.

Step 14: Now time to draw his clothes by starting from the straps of his overalls. Draw two sets of slanted parallel lines from the sides of his chin. Note that the right set is a bit wider. End them with a slight curved V-stroke.

Step 15: Draw a circle on each end of the straps (to make them look like buttons). Connect both straps with two lines.

Step 16: Now for his left arm – make two slanted lines upwards. One starts from his straps and the other can start around his ear part.

Step 17: Close the edge of his sleeve by drawing two slightly curved lines together.

Step 21: Now we shift to his other arm. From the edge of his hair or overall strap, draw a big curve to show his elbow. Add a small stroke near the middle of the strap to emphasize the arm.

Step 22: Close the edge of his sleeves with two slightly curved lines again.

Step 23: Draw the shape of his right glove by making the two strokes shown above.

Step 24: From the tip of his glove’s edge, add a short stroke to emphasize his arm.

Step 25: Next is to add his fingers. Since he has his fist closed, the strokes should be short (as shown).

Step 26: Draw his tummy section by making big curve from his strap.

Step 27: Draw two lines on his midsection to define his waist part.

Step 28: From his right fist, make a straight line slanted outwards to start forming his legs. Leave a space to make another diagonal line parallel to the first one you made. Note that for each bottom tip, there is this really small curve.

Step 29: Draw another slanted line from the edge of his tummy section to complete the other leg. Add the little strokes shown on the image above as well.

Step 30: Time to make his shoes! They have this bulky look so make wide, round curves as you complete the shape of each shoe.

Step 31: Draw the soles of his shoes to complete!

Step 32: Finally… coloring time! The iconic Super Mario has blue and red combination for his outfit. You can shade his hair and shoes with a dark brown color. Note that he is using gloves so it can be white or grayish in color. Don’t forget to make the red “M” symbol on his hat, too!

You’re simply amazing for completing all these steps! High-five!
