How To Draw A Kawaii Sushi

Today, let’s learn how to draw a kawaii sushi.

Drawing anime style kawaii sushi might be the most fun way to express your creativity with drawings! Especially if you are into cooking and food.

There are many different types of sushi, but the most popular one is Nigiri. Nigiri is made by placing a piece of raw fish on top of a ball or block of rice. A layer of wasabi may be added to give it more flavor and spice up your taste buds!

That is the type of sushi we’ll be learning to draw today. The good news is that it is super easy to do and the rice almost looks like a cloud when you draw it, which makes it really easy to imagine.

We put a nice, delicious salmon on top of our sushi but you can use whatever you want!

Let’s Draw A Kawaii Sushi – Step By Step

Step 1: Draw one small circle on the upper right portion of your paper.

Step 2: Draw another circle just above it.

Step 3: Next is to make the top outline of the sushi. Make a long, slightly curved downward stroke passing through the midsection of the first circle you drew.

Step 4: Continue drawing the bottom part of the salmon topping with the left portion a bit rounder than the right side. Leave a space on the right edge for the next step to do.

Step 5: We’ll add a tail-like edge into this topping. Draw one curve that looks like a fish’s tail but keep the edges round (not pointy).

Step 6: Add another curve to complete the tail, like the drawing above.

Step 7: Draw two small circles together just below the salmon topping’s left edge. Also add another circle on the top cluster of circles.

Step 8: From the left edge of the salmon topping, draw small curly strokes down until it reaches the two circles you made.

Step 9: Continue these small curly strokes to form the rice body of the sushi.

Step 10: Now time to draw the eyes! Make two circles with ample space in the middle. Don’t forget to add one small circle on each eye – which remains white as you shade the entire eye circle black.

Step 11: Draw the mouth with a small curve line inside for the tongue. Best to put it in the lower, middle space between the eyes.

Step 12: Add stripes on the salmon topping! They don’t need to be straight lines. See inspiration above.

Step 13: Add round circles on each side of the cheeks for the blush!

Step 14: For the nose, draw a little stroke above the mouth.

Step 15: For some detail – add an oval shape just below the sushi.

Step 16: Now for the best part – coloring time! You can use orange for the salmon topping and let the stripes remain white. Color the blush and mouth portion, too.

Since the rice is already white, you can use grey for some shadow effect on the edges. For contrast, we used green to color the oval shape below the sushi.

Good job on your kawaii sushi!
