  • There are many different horse colors, so feel free to experiment instead of following our colors.

Let’s Draw A Horse – Step By Step

Step 1: We will start by doing the outline of the horse’s face. It’s like U-shaped but kindly look at the image above as we have to add some curve on the jawline area.

Note that the right tip is slightly lower than the left tip.

Step 2: Draw the right ear.

Step 3: Connecting from the ear, make a curve until it touches the other tip of the face. End it with a nice curl.

From the ear portion again, make another curl by making a J-shaped stroke with a spiral tip.

Step 4: Add more curls on the horse’s hair. Draw a big spiral stroke on the left side, underneath the first curl. Then draw a smaller spiral on the right side, connecting from the second curl you made. Both curls should meet close to the middle.

Draw a vertical wavy line inside the right ear section – near the left margin of the ear.

Draw the left ear, as well.

Step 5: Define the hair by adding some more lines in it as shown above. We suggest not straight strokes so it will show a little bit of wavy effect.

To add more volume to the hair, make a huge curve stroke outside the head, starting from the bottom of the left ear all the way to bottom of the right ear. End it with a nice spiral with a bigger space from the face.

Step 6: Make two curly strokes at the left side, where you started to draw the bigger hair portion.

One small spiral stroke – upwards. While the other one stretches at the cheeks of the horse with an inward curl. See image above as guide.

Step 7: Draw additional curls on the right section, as shown.

One small spiral touching the face.

Then, two extensions connected to the longer curl – one small swirl upwards and another longer curve extending at the bottom of the curl.

Step 8: Go back to the left hair section so we can define the curls beside the cheeks.

Follow the arrows up and down to create the curves.

Step 9: Add two more tiny strokes to complete it.

Step 10: Now let’s complete the curls on right hair section. Draw two wavy lines, as shown, and a swirl at the bottom.

Step 12: Draw the back part of the body together with the hind legs. Note that the smaller/farther hind leg has a shorter vertical line up.

Step 13: Draw a long curve line to complete the abdomen part/body.

Step 14: Start drawing the horse’s tail with one large swirl. Add another swirl on the right section of the jaw, too, connected to the hair.

Step 15: Add another nice curl at the bottom part of the horse’s tail, touching the body.

Add some curvy lines to the hair on right section, too.

Step 16: Start defining the tail by adding the stroke shown above.

Step 17: Add two more curve lines to complete the tail. Follow the arrows as guide.

Step 18: Let’s make the big round eyes. Make sure to draw one small circle on the upper right side of each eye (which we will leave white).

Step 19: Complete the cute face by adding oval shapes on the cheeks. Put them a little near the side of the eyes for that blushing look.

Don’t forget to add a little stroke for the mouth.

Step 20: Color your cute horse! Use a darker shade to draw a curve for the nose, just near the left eye.

Add some shadow on the right ear, as well as at the bottom of the face and abdomen using darker shades. Don’t forget the hoofs, too!

The hair looks wonderful if you have some highlights!

It’s really up to you how to make it pretty! Thumbs up!
