Let’s bring a little sun out today by learning how to draw a flower in our kawaii art style.

It’s amazing how adding a simple face to an object can turn it into a character and give life to it. It’s a great idea to keep that in mind when drawing as an amazing way to add extra life or details to a picture.

Drawing a flower is a lot of fun and one you learn, you can add them to so many other kawaii pictures you might draw. You can even combine them with our other tutorial that will teach you how to draw a rose.

Art Supplies

Here’s a list of coloring supplies we recommend to use, however, feel free to use whatever you can find around the house!

If you are already a fan of a particular marker/coloring brand you may want to check out a few of our other guides such for popular brands such as Ohuhu markers, Artzea and Prismacolor markers.

Otherwise, just pick whatever coloring tools you have around the house (crayons, markers, pencil crayons etc.) and just have some fun!

A Few Tips Before You Start Drawing

  • Use a tea cup or other object to help draw the circle in step 1.

Let’s Draw A Flower  – Step By Step

Step 1: Draw one nice circle. This will be the middle part of our flower where the petals will connect.

Step 2: Draw one of the petals as shaped above. Start at the midpoint at the bottom of the circle and follow the arrows. This will be our guide for the rest of the petals.

Step 3: Draw the second petal starting from the curved side of the first petal. Next is the third petal which should end at the midpoint of our circle above.

Step 4: Add two more petals – one following the third petal on the top and the other one, beside the first petal at the bottom right.

Leave enough space between these petals for the last petal we need.

Step 5: Complete the last petal by drawing a curve line on the space.

Step 6: Time to start drawing our little pot at the bottom.

Draw a small inverted trapezoid shape just beneath the flower. Allow space for the stem and leaves later.

Step 7: Draw the base of the pot by connecting the trapezoid to a larger one.

Step 8: Draw a little hump just near the middle part of the pot.

Step 9: Add around three more pebbles around it.

Step 10: Time to add the stem by drawing slightly curved parallel lines from the petal down to the pot.

Step 11: Let’s work on the leaves now. Start by creating a curvy line as the middle guide (midrib) for the first leaf. Draw it on the left side of the stem.

Step 12: Draw the top part of the leaf by starting from the tip down to the midrib, near the stem.

Step 13: Finish the leaf by adding a curved line at the bottom part of it.

Step 14: Draw the second leaf just opposite the first one. Start with another middle line guide (midrib).

Step 15: Draw the upper half of the leaf as shown above.

Step 16: Complete the second leaf by drawing a curvy line for the bottom part. Start from the tip of the midrib down to the stem.

Step 17: Add three lines on each petal with the middle one slightly longer than the other two on each side. Follow the guide for your stroke so we can make it bloom!

Step 18: Draw the cute little face in the middle!

Step 19: Add some oval blush shapes on the flower’s cheeks and some little strokes above the eyes for that charming look.

Step 20: You did it! Time to color this cute flower!
