How To Draw A Cute Shark - Kawaii Style

The ocean is a really fun place and there are so many cool animals in it – like sharks!

So today, let’s learn how to draw a cute shark in our kawaii art style. The popular “Baby Shark” character is also done in a cute style so it might look a little similar to what we have here : )

This guy is only 12 steps to complete (with coloring) so great for beginners or anyone that just loves sharks.

Like usual, creativity makes it way more fun, so experiment with the face and mouth using common kawaii styles. Or, change up the color if you’d rather give it a nice pink or yellow to look like that other popular shark : )

We are continuing with our sea creature theme this week. Last week, we put up a tutorial on how to draw an octopus.

So grab a pen and paper and let’s get started!

Art Supplies

Here’s a list of coloring supplies we recommend to use, however, feel free to use whatever you can find around the house!

Pencil, Marker, Sharpie, Pen (Anything you can draw with!)
Paper (We love marker paper but use anything you can find).

Colored Markers (if you want to color the drawing).
Here are what we think are the best colored pencils, best gel pens and best markers for coloring.
Your imagination (feel free to change colors or add things to the drawing!).

Otherwise, just pick whatever coloring tools you have around the house (crayons, markers, pencil crayons etc.) and just have some fun!

A Few Tips Before You Start Drawing

Change the color if you want it to look similar to those popular “Baby Shark” style sharks.
Once you get the body done, the rest is super easy!

Let’s Draw A Cute Shark – Step By Step

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step1 — **Step 1:** Let’s start our kawaii shark drawing with a slightly curved stroke for the head.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step2 — **Step 2:** Continue with an upward stroke to create pointy tip for its first dorsal fin.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step3 — **Step 3:** Then make a little slide downwards towards the tail.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step4 — **Step 4:** Next is to draw the bottom part of the shark’s body. Make a smooth wide curve below.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step5 — **Step 5:** Draw a smaller fin as figured above.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step6 — **Step 6:** Continue drawing an arch upward, almost meeting the other tip.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step7 — **Step 7:** Next step is to form the tail. Follow the guide arrows to make it look good.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step8 — **Step 8:** Just on the side of the shark’s face, draw another fin out pointing upwards.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step9 — **Step 9:** Now it’s time to draw the eyes. Make two round circles with a wide space in the middle. In each eye, make two smaller circles inside. Shade the outer portion black.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step10 — **Step 10:** In the middle of the eyes, draw a wide, happy mouth. Make a slant line inside to mark the tongue. Shade the upper portion black.

howtodraw-a-kawaii-shark-step11 — **Step 11:** To complete the kawaii look, add a round blush on each cheek!

howtodraw-a-cute-shark-step12 — **Step 12:** Coloring time! Here’s our kawaii shark in a blue shade with cream-colored belly. Color your work and have fun!
