How To Draw A Cute Octopus

Learning how to draw a cute octopus is super easy when using a kawaii art style. This is a great beginner tutorial or for anyone who just wants to make a cute octopus : )

Our version is based on our kawaii style which might look similar to those in Japanese cartoons (anime). We focus on larger eyes and rounded shapes and nothing too detailed (at least for the octopus).

So grab a pen and paper and follow along!

Let’s Draw A Cute Octopus – Step By Step

Step 1: Let’s start our kawaii octopus drawing with a cute little heart angled a bit sideways.

Step 2: Draw a perfect curve touching the heart. If it helps, you can use anything round as a guide.

Step 3: Next are the tentacles. We don’t need to create eight legs but for a start, draw four wide zigzag strokes. No need to have pointy edges for a softer look.

Step 4: Start making the face by drawing two round circles for the eyes. Add a smaller circle inside each. You may already shade the outer portion black. For that cute look, add a short stroke on each eye for the eyelash.

Step 5: Add three short diagonal strokes on each sides of her cheeks. Draw a smiley curve right in the middle space between the eyes, too.

Step 6: Draw additional legs by adding little v-strokes in the gaps between the four legs we previously did.
